Commentary on "Your Best Life Now"

I started reading Joel Osteen's Book entitled "Your Best Life Now" thinking I would disagree w/ much of it because I don't believe in serving God to get something from Him, or use Him as a Genie or Santa.
I was skeptical because I don't approve of the health ,wealth, & prosperity gospel preached by many TV evangelist's.
But as I read about being positive instead of negative & focusing your mind on things that are good, true, trustworthy, honest ; the more interested I became.
The more I read about building your self-esteem in the Lord & trusting in the promises of scripture, the more I liked it.
He doesn't deny that we will face hardships ,troubles & trials, but he tells us to trust in God & His promises in spite of the trials.
He even teaches to let go of injustice & let God do the avenging , because holding grudges & vengence in our heart only hurts us not our enemy. It eventually affects our emotional & physical health.
I also like the way he teaches casting off the curse of past failures, abuses & mistakes & claiming the blessings of a Heavenly Father who wants to bless us & give us good things.
I think he is correct when he says God can bless us more if we have more faith & trust Him ,rejecting doubt, & negative fear.
The reason I believe he's right is because scripture tells us Jesus didn't do very many miracles in his home town because of their lack of faith in him.
They refused to see Him as the Messiah because they had seen him as a child & knew his family. If they had trusted Him more they would have seen more miracles.
